Mending

Mending is a constant life process.

To mend, first we must know what needs to be mended. My "to-be-mended" list usually appears in my everyday journals (morning pages and evening pages). I have been getting one item as to-be-mended for the past four weeks consistently. It is about my consistency.

To set context: I am fairly consistent. I believe in showing up every day even when nothing is inspiring. I have written memos/posts/blogs when I get some time in the washroom, when stuck in traffic, while standing in a queue, waiting for someone on the meeting bridge and more. I make it a point to keep myself intellectually stimulated every day. I am obsessed with a few habits. I feel terrible inside if I don't do them. It affects my mental health to a large extent.

It has been this way for almost a decade and a half. In the past six months, however, my consistency around my daily reading and writing habits has dwindled.

To be precise, my consistency has dropped by 43% in the past 3 months (Yes, I measure it 🫢)

My urgent and important list has become exponentially longer than before. It is so challenging to find time when you are so busy. Despite having the decade long habit set and mindset in place, I find it super hard to keep up with the consistency these days.

My startup days differ greatly from my corporate days in the amount of time I spend on deep work. My empathy for my corporate friends increased dramatically. I used to judge my students for not making time for their portfolios or personal brand or self-care or learning. I really understand what you struggle with now. My heart goes out to you🫶

My corporate friends are in awe of my consistency post-corporate. It used to make me scratch my head when I saw their awe. Now I understand.

As a problem solver, I would like to get this problem solved within the next 100 days. As I embark on this journey, I will share my learnings and reflections with you here.

🥂to problem solving!
