30 Days at ServiceNow

Three Words That Sum It All Up

Happy. Healthy. Productive.

Today marks my first month at ServiceNow, and what a journey it’s been. I came in ready to drink from the fire hose, jumped into current priorities, and made a conscious choice to be a fly on the wall first: observing, learning, and only contributing where I could genuinely add value without creating friction.

The depth and complexity of this product is remarkable. When seasoned colleagues mention they’re “still learning after 7 years,” you quickly realize the importance of staying hungry and humble.

Three mindset shifts that served me well:

You don’t have to prove yourself. You’re already proven. That’s why you’re here. The pressure to demonstrate worth can lead us down the wrong path. Instead, I focused on observing and learning, supported by leaders who encouraged presence over performance. Thank you Amy Lokey Anand Tharanathan for trusting and spelling it out in as many words🫶

You don’t have to learn it all.I dropped my FOMO entirely. Missing out is inevitable and acceptable. What matters is staying prioritized and intentional about where you focus. Thank you Efrat Orkin for constantly checking on me and making sure I take it slow 🫰You are the best manager I have ever had and yes, I said it out loud 🫶

You don’t have to contribute in every meeting. I spent most meetings listening, taking detailed notes, and processing information as an objective third party. My private loop of observations, inferences, and insights became invaluable, and I wasn’t afraid to revise my understanding as I learned more. Thank you Varun for being an amazing partner and my sounding board almost every day.

What’s been most remarkable? The partnership with senior leadership. Being authentically myself and sharing my thoughts and feelings openly has been met with genuine listening, helpful articulation, and encouragement when my thinking aligns. This psychological safety has been transformative.

What I love about ServiceNow culture:
• No time for nonsense: we’re too productive solving meaningful problems
• Zero tolerance for BS, politics, or drama
• Efficient onboarding focused on the big picture, not minutiae
• An organization that doesn’t just welcome you but adopts you, teaches you, and learns with you

The charters are massive, the work is challenging, and figuring it all out takes time. But I couldn’t have asked for a better start to this next chapter.

Here’s to staying hungry, humble, winning as a team, wowing our customers and above all being authentically me in the large ecosystem 🚀
