Anicca
I’ve tried almost everything under the sun in the name of personal growth—books, courses, coaching, frameworks, philosophies. But nothing has stayed with me like my first Vipassana retreat. It wasn’t just an experience; it was an imprint on my way of being.
One single insight from that retreat changed everything: Anicca—the principle of impermanence.
Everything is temporary. Some things last days, others years, a few stretch across decades—but none of it is permanent. This truth dissolved the illusion of control and brought with it a surprising gift: peace. No resistance, no clinging, no suffering. Just flow.
As a system thinker and a designer, I have always loved unpacking how things work. I have the intelligence to dissect complexity and the agency to move through phenomenal ambiguity. But Anicca adds the most important layer—it makes everything lighter.
You keep learning.
You keep flowing.
You keep building.
And when the cycle ends—so be it.
It’s just the wheel of life turning. We’re all spokes in this vast wheel, each doing our part. One spoke trying to live a little better, love a little deeper, create a little more consciously—knowing full well that we are part of something that keeps moving, with or without us.
Strangely, that knowing is not limiting—it is liberating.
Because when nothing is permanent, everything becomes precious.
