The 10 Paramitas from Vipassana
English is a tricky language, with multiple words often meaning similar things and vice versa. This complexity can lead us down rabbit holes of semantic debates, especially when it comes to personal growth concepts.
In my journey of self-improvement and leadership development, I've wrestled with terms like belief, culture, personality, mindset, values, and leadership itself. But I found clarity in an unexpected place: the 10 Paramitas from Vipassana.
These 'perfections' aren't just philosophical concepts - they're jars to fill daily with action. For the past year, I've been doing just that. It's challenging, but transformative, both personally and as a leader.
The beauty of this approach? It sidesteps semantic debates. Whether you call it belief, values, mindset, or leadership principles doesn't matter. What matters is that you're actively shaping yourself and your impact on others.
Notes to self: Stop debating syntax. Start working with yourself. Pick up these 10 aspects - generosity, discipline, patience, effort, meditation, wisdom, skillful means, aspiration, spiritual power, and knowledge. Add something to each 'jar' every day.
The bar is high, but that's the point. What are you looking for in your self-improvement and leadership journey? Whatever it is, action beats debate. Start filling those jars today.
P.S: I shared my perspective in UXNow and looks like this is the most screenshotted slide.
