Formula for Flow

There is a formula for flow. It’s the mukti of productivity. Hard to explain, simple to mix: fun + fear + focus. In brain-speak, it’s a cocktail of adrenaline, acetylcholine, and dopamine. Get the ratios right, and the work starts working you. Getting in is hard. Staying in is easy because it… flows.

The real battle is entry and then protection. It took us three weeks to crack it for this book. This week, it clicked. Now it feels smooth, which means it feels fast.

For this project, the mix is clear: we’re having a ball writing it (fun), we’re scared to death by the imposter voice (“An author? You? In AI? What are you smoking?”), and we’re locked in by a hard deadline (focus). August 24 is non-negotiable. The manuscript goes out.

Hey AI is the most serendipitous project of my life. We picked it up to mend a broken heart and it turned into kintsugi. We won’t do the waterfall version of publishing. We’ll ship an MVP as a limited edition, then iterate with your feedback. It looks ugly enough to hit publish, which is exactly why we should. It’s scary and it’s necessary.

Our job now is simple: protect the flow. Door shut, distractions off, one honest page at a time. See you on the other side.
