The Surgical Pain
Some pain is clean.
Surgical pain, I call it. Sharp, precise, purposeful. It slices through you, but it does so to save you. The wound is intentional. The ache is expected. The healing is certain.
You limp for a while. You wince when you laugh. You wonder if you made the right choice. But you did.
Because not all pain is bad. Some pain is the price of release. The post-op tenderness after cutting out what no longer belongs. A toxic love. A draining friendship. A job that dims your light. You may not even have the words for what was wrong. But your body, your mind, your spirit knew.
Even after the tumour is gone, it hurts. But it’s a different kind of hurt. A hurt that leads to healing. The kind that leaves behind scars not of defeat, but of decision. A reminder that you did something brave. You chose yourself.
Surgical pain is temporary. But what it gives you back - your breath, your peace, your life - is permanent.
Cut deep. Heal true.
