Saying Yes vs Saying No
Saying no is a challenge, especially for us Indians. Our culture trains us to be humble, grounded, and always agreeable. But this constant "yes" can lead to burnout - there's simply too much to accept.
Here's a simple principle I've developed to stay grounded, humble, and prioritized:
Saying yes is easy, but every yes demands work. I strive to excel in everything I do, which requires time, energy, and focus. It's impossible to give your best when overwhelmed. So, I only say yes to what I can truly commit to even if it is a simple review or thinking about things or quick sync etc. My integrity holds me accountable.
I used to burn out from excitement, saying yes too often. Now, every yes goes into my calendar. If there's no time, it's a no. Simple, yet powerful.
This isn't about wearing "no" as a badge of honor or "yes" as a symbol of passion. It's about doing what you can, with what you have, exceptionally well.
This approach has transformed my life over the past 1000 days. What helps you stay prioritized?
