"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects." - Robert Heinlein
This quote deeply resonates with the designer in me. As creative problem solvers, we are trained to view things holistically. While the parts are important and mastery is key, life is a composite—it's holistic.
I've often found it challenging to focus solely on discussing topics around product or business design. Life lessons always seem to creep in all discussions. My goal isn’t to give gyan but to share my mistakes, lessons, and reflections, offering actionable frameworks. I wanted to share insights that anyone could apply immediately in their day-to-day lives.
This approach inspired my blog, which I enjoy writing. However, as the world evolves, so too does our content consumption. Emails are becoming less popular, and reminding someone to visit a blog everyday can be difficult. As an experience designer, I disliked the experience of daily emails and the associated spam. This issue has been troubling me for some time.
Recently, I discovered WhatsApp channels, which offer a promising solution. They're quick, integrated into daily life, and keep everything in one place. While this works well in India, I'm not certain about its effectiveness elsewhere. Nonetheless, I'm giving myself 100 days to pilot my WhatsApp channel.
Here are a few things I plan to share:
Daily writings (from various platforms like LinkedIn, Substack, Blog, and my Notion docs). Limited to one per day.
Quick reflections (if any), similar to a tweet. Limited to two per day.
Job Opportunities from my network as it comes to me.
Great books/articles/podcasts/TED talks I discover on the go.
My curations of some amazing pieces by some amazing folks across the globe.
Cohorts that I launch in #pifo. These usually sell out in a few hours and only happen once a year. Folks are mad at me for not bringing to their notice. Hopefully this channel fixes it.
Impromptu masterclasses that I conduct in our community. Again not everyone knows about these awesome conversations outside the community. Would love to include everyone.
Logistics like when I'm unavailable/MIA, such as during vacations or deep work periods.
Lastly, Memes that made me laugh/think/shrug.
This is a quick, spam-free way to keep in touch with the community. Amid the fast pace of life and fragmented communication modes, I hope this channel keeps us connected.
